Graduated in electrical engineering from the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB – 1994). He received the titles of M.Sc. (1996) and D.Sc. (2001) in electrical engineering from the same university and completed his MBA at IAG/PUC-Rio (2009).
Alecio has 27 (twenty-seven) years of professional experience in the area of electrical studies, with an emphasis on electromagnetic transients and computational modeling.
He has, also, 13 (thirteen) years of experience as Electrical Engineer at the ONS (National Electric System Operator), having worked (from 2003 to 2016) in the area of planning and programming of the National Interconnected System (SIN) operation, and 14 (fourteen) years of experience as consultant specialized in the execution and analysis of electricity generation and transmission studies, wind and thermal generation integration and electricity quality.
.In 1995 and 1996, he served as professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at UFPB, in Campina Grande, PB, Brazil. From 1996 to 1998, worked as an engineer at the Maranhão Aluminum Consortium (ALUMAR) in São Luís, MA, Brazil. From 2001 to 2003, served as Research Director at NEPEN (Studies and Research Center in the Northeast) and professor at Faculdade Pio Décimo, in Aracaju, SE, Brazil. From 2003 to 2016, he worked as a specialist engineer for the National Electric System Operator – ONS, in Recife, PE.
Member of CIGRE (Council of Large Electrical Systems), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and founding member of SBQEE (Brazilian Society for the Quality of Electrical Energy), he is the author of about 100 articles in the area of electromagnetic transients and modeling of computational system for simulation of electric power systems.
In the period 2012/2015, he coordinated the Wind Task Force, nationwide, by the ONS. From 2009 to 2011, he served as a member of the Executive Board of SBQEE – Brazilian Society for the Quality of Electric Energy.
Alecio worked as an ad hoc consultant for CNPq and the National Electric Energy Agency – ANEEL, in the analysis of technical-scientific merit in Research and Development (R&D) projects.
He is currently reviewer of Transactions on Power Delivery and Transactions on Power Systems, published by IEEE-PES (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers – Society of Energy Engineering).
Since 2003, he has been Partner / CEO of Carpe Vie Engenharia Ltda, acting in the execution of studies and management of processes associated with the stages of “Margin” Studies (prospective), Access Document, Pre-Operational and Integration of wind and solar power plants, in the basic network and in the SIN distribution network.
Since 2018, he has been a partner / director of Nexiall Consultancy in Energy Ltda, acting directly in the supervision of processes with the MME, EPE, ANEEL, CCEE, ONS and transmission / distribution companies.
